The MEDIA programme of the European Union is supporting e:training, one of the first and most elaborate online training programmes in Europe. It has been developed by the Erich Pommer Institut, one of the leading professional training providers in the European media industry. The next e:training course Clearing Rights for Film and TV starts in early December 2016.
What is e:training?
NR: In times of a fast changing media world, professional training is more important than ever. To keep up with the fast pace of the digital era, the Erich Pommer Institut decided to take professional training to another level in creating this very flexible training tool and unique learning experience. It consists of numerous hours of didactic studio-shot videos with acclaimed experts and renowned industry professionals. The high quality course material includes summaries, a glossary, checklists for download as well as quizzes for testing the newly acquired knowledge. Whenever needed, you can also choose English subtitles. You can sign up for six months and even receive a training certificate upon completion.
What are the benefits of e:training?
NR: Participants can log in from every device, anywhere and at any time – e:training grants them the necessary freedom to incorporate training into their individual schedules. Whether you learn about the latest trends in European co-production or rights clearance on the train, at home, after work or on your way to the office, it is all up to you. On top, it’s more affordable than most residential courses and doesn’t involve time and money for travelling.
The first e:training course „European Co-Production“ has been launched successfully last year. What feedback do you receive from participants?
NR: The feedback we receive is very positive. Some users appreciate the great flexibility the course offered them. A sometimes very unpredictable producer schedule can be an obstacle to commit to an on-site workshop with a fixed date and location. Others simply couldn’t make it to the “off-line course” in Berlin – it takes place on an annual basis – and were very happy to be offered an online alternative with e:training. Additionally, we are thrilled to appeal to a wider and different range of participants. Travel costs and even the language barrier might have prevented interested professionals from coming to our residential courses in the past. Now, we are very happy to reach more European professionals with our professional training.
The second e:training course “Clearing Rights for Film and TV” will be launched early December. What is it about?
The equivalent residential course has been popular with industry professionals for several years now. Rights clearance is becoming increasingly important. The course covers all legal aspects of producing for film or TV: Scripts based on real stories, copyright issues, dealings with trademarks and music rights, etc. 12 chapters offer the practical knowledge to identify and clear rights fast and effectively. Candid case studies lead users behind the scenes of recent rights clearance issues.
